Spirit Beasts Awakening by A. P. Beswick is an exciting YA urban fantasy. This novel kept me on the edge of my seat! It is about a teenage boy named Arnold Ethon who is anxiously waiting his turn to learn which spirit beast resides within him. His dream is to join the ranks of the Spirit Wardens to maintain order in his community. An act of bravery grants Arnold that wish, but danger lurks around every corner.
Often, I can figure out many plot points when reading a book, but not with Spirit Beasts Awakening. I was pleasantly surprised throughout, especially at the end of the book. I want more! Being the first book of this saga, I’ll be anxiously waiting for future releases. There is so much that hangs in the balance. This coming of age story could be validating for many teens as the main character experiences frustrating setbacks, bullying, a lack of confidence, and more. If you love page-turning YA novels, I would recommend this book. When you finish reading it, make sure to leave an honest review. Reviews are an author’s lifeline.
