The Blue Castle by L. M. Montgomery is magnificent. The story follows an unmarried 29-year-old woman named Valency. A terminal illness has given her the courage to break free from her toxic family, and for the first time in her life, she truly lives.

Many readers could relate to this character. People pleasing and living your life based on the expectations of others is (unfortunately) common practice. It shouldn’t be. Valency’s courage could inspire others to truly break free of their co-dependent relationships.

I’m curious to re-read this after starting my self-healing journey. Valency’s journey is beautiful. I remember laughing throughout the book as well. If you want a hopeful and delicious happily ever after story, this is it. Look no further.
