Just Ask!: Be Different, Be Brave, Be You by Sonia Sotomayor was a random find while looking for another picture book. I’m glad I came across it! This is an inclusive book at its best and is a great way to get the conversation going.

Check it out!

Having lived with juvenile diabetes, the author seeks to show differences in an empowering light. The book introduces many characters that have asthma, are bound to a wheelchair, and much more.

Each page turn ends with a question to discuss. One example is a character with a stutter. The question asks, “Do you ever wonder if people understand you?” So many important discussions could occur in your home or classroom.

The author uses the beautiful analogy of a garden to describe how all types of people bring value to our world. This is a picture book to add to your bookshelf. Check out her other books (or books about her).
