A Maiden’s Grave by Jeffrey Deaver

I’m typically not a thriller reader, but this one looks good. A school bus is taken hostage and the FBI brings in its best hostage negotiator. Plans don’t go as expected. It looks like there are some twists and turns in this fast-paced crime thriller.

Once Upon a Puppy by Lizzie Shane

I grabbed this one for the title. Also, who could resist the dog on the front cover? This is Book 2 of the Pine Hollow series. I’ll need to read the first book, The Twelve Dogs of Christmas, before digging into this faking-dating sweet romance.

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

I’ve already read this book and it wasn’t for me. Even though I didn’t enjoy it, I know many readers do. This Pulitzer Prize-winning historical fiction will be placed reverently in a Little Free Library in my neighborhood. If you love the World War II era, check out this book. It may become your next favorite novel.

Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

I’m currently reading Save the Cat Writes a Novel which mentions this novel. The main character named Becky has quite a financial deficit. This book has been applauded for its excellent story structure, so if I want to write a book someday, I will have to learn from one of the successful authors. Have you read it or seen the movie?

Between Two Skies by Joanne O’Sullivan

When I was teaching, I remember a refugee family relocating to Phoenix after Hurricane Katrina. This young adult novel is about a love story that happens in the aftermath. Many say this is beautifully written with believable dialog.
