As I mentioned in this blog post, my first exposure to A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman was the Swedish film starring Rolf Lassgård. The entire cast did a wonderful job! Soon after, I listened to the audiobook.

Check it out!

My listening experience was equally enjoyable. Backman wrote a truly touching novel about a grumpy man named Ove. This widower is done with life and makes several attempts to leave the earth.

Ove’s life is forever changed when a young family moves in next door. This is a story that will touch your heart as Ove progresses from a bitter human to a joyful one. The characters in this novel are simply beautiful.

Tom Hanks will be starting in the US movie version of this book entitled A Man Called Otto. I love Tom Hanks; he’s my favorite actor. If anyone could pull this role off, it is him but I’m still a little nervous. There are always high expectations for movies to be great like the book. I recently purchased a copy of this book and plan to re-read it before viewing the film.

Are you planning on watching the new movie? Please share in the comments.  Make sure to check out other Fiction Friday posts.
